Shelf · account & data

How to delete your account.

Shelf is the book-saving app by Robin JL. You can delete your Shelf account and all the data tied to it at any time — from inside the app, or by email. Here is exactly how, and exactly what gets removed.

i.Delete from inside the app

The fastest way — your account and data are erased immediately, no waiting on us:

  1. Open Shelf on your device and make sure you're signed in.
  2. On your library screen, tap your avatar (top of the screen) to open Settings.
  3. Tap Delete account.
  4. Confirm. Your account and saved books are permanently removed.

ii.Or ask us by email

If you can't access the app — for example you've already deleted it — email skyftlab@gmail.com from the address you signed up with and ask us to delete your account. We action it within 30 days, usually within 3, and email you to confirm when it's done.

iii.What gets deleted

When you delete your account, we permanently remove:

Your email address
The address used to sign in via magic link. Deleted with your account.
Your saved books
Every book on your shelf — covers, titles, authors, summaries, genres and the source post URLs you saved from. Deleted with your account.
Your account record
The user row itself, and any session tokens tied to it.
Plainspoken Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. There is no recovery window — once it's gone, it's gone.

iv.What we keep, and for how long

  • First-party usage events (sign-in, a book identified, a book saved, a library open) are kept in an anonymized, aggregate form for up to 12 months, then deleted on a rolling basis. They are logged on our own server, never sold or shared, and are not used to re-identify you after deletion.
  • Nothing else is retained. We do not keep a copy of your email, your books, or your account after deletion, except where the law requires us to.
